Why hire an iOS developer in India through DigiWorks
Experienced Apple developers
Many Indian iOS developers have shipped apps for product companies and agencies serving clients abroad, so working in English, in your tools and to App Store standards is routine for them.
Lower cost than US or UK hiring
Salaries for iOS developers in India sit well below US and Western European levels, so a budget for one local senior can often cover a strong developer plus room for testing or design help.
Hours agreed up front
Before we shortlist anyone, we confirm the hours they can share with your team, whether that is your morning in London or an early start or late finish for a US team.
Checked before the shortlist
Each developer has passed a live coding test, had shipped code reviewed on Git and had references called before you see their name. The interview and the decision stay with you.
One contract, clear pay
We hold the agreement and pay the developer each month. You see what the developer earns and what DigiWorks charges as two separate lines.

Service Breakdown
There are several ways to work with iOS talent in India. This is how they compare, and when an India-based developer is the right choice.
Local hire in your own country
Someone in your office and your time zone, at your local salary level. Simple to manage, but the most expensive route and often slow to fill.
Freelancer in India
Fine for a short fix or one feature. You handle screening, contracts and payments in rupees yourself, and availability can change from week to week.
Indian app development agency
An outsourcing firm delivers a project with its own team and manager. Prices can be low, but you rarely choose who works on your app, and developers can rotate between clients.
Dedicated iOS developer in India through DigiWorks
One developer who works only on your app as part of your team. We find and check candidates, you interview and choose, and we handle the agreement and monthly pay.
When India is a good fit
UK and European teams who want most of the day covered, US teams happy with a short shared window, and products where steady, long-term app work matters more than one-off sprints.
When another region may suit you better
If your US team needs many hours of live overlap every day, a developer in Latin America shares far more of your working day. We can shortlist there too.

Founder Story
Hi, We're Monica & Rolphy!
We founded DigiWorks after seeing how broken hiring and team building had become: slow, expensive, and limited by geography. Companies were either overpaying locally or struggling to manage remote talent effectively.
We built DigiWorks to fix that. By combining global talent access with structured systems for hiring, onboarding, and performance, we make it possible for companies to build high-performing teams anywhere in the world.
Most business owners waste enormous time and cash because they don’t know how to hire, manage, or scale remote teams, especially technical ones.
We believe this is a fundamental shift. The best companies won’t be defined by where they hire, but by how effectively they build and operate global teams, and DigiWorks sits at the centre of that change.

How to hire an iOS developer in India: what to check, cost and working hours
Hiring an iOS developer in India can give you a strong developer at a lower cost than hiring at home, as long as you choose the person carefully and set up the working rhythm well. This guide covers what to check, how pay works, how to plan shared hours and how to make the first months go smoothly. For the general skills of the role, see our main page to hire iOS developers, and for broader engineering roles our software engineers in India.
Why teams look to India for iOS work
India has a large community of mobile developers, many of whom have spent years building apps for clients in the US, UK and Europe. They are used to English-language teams, ticket boards and code reviews, and they know how App Store review works. Costs are lower than in Western markets, which lets smaller companies afford a senior developer or keep one developer on the app for the long term instead of paying for short projects.
What it costs
PayScale’s data for India, updated in August 2026 from 95 salary profiles, shows an average base salary of about 8.1 lakh rupees a year for iOS developers, with most between roughly 2.9 lakh and 20 lakh. The spread is wide because experience varies so much. A junior developer who builds screens from finished designs sits near the bottom. A senior who can plan the app, lead releases and review other people’s code sits near the top. Through DigiWorks you see the developer’s pay and our fee as separate lines.
Planning shared hours
India Standard Time is five and a half hours ahead of UTC all year, because India does not change its clocks. For a team in London, that means a good part of the day in common for most of the year, more in the winter and a little less in the summer when the UK moves its clocks forward. For a US team the gap is larger, so most companies agree a short daily window, often the developer’s evening and the US morning. Agree the exact hours before the developer starts and put them in writing.
What to check in the interview
- A shipped app: ask which parts they built, how they handled review and what they would change now.
- SwiftUI and state: ask them to explain how data moves between screens in an app they worked on.
- Debugging: ask about a crash they found in a live app and the tools they used.
- Communication: ask them to write a short pull request description during the interview.
- Hours: confirm the overlap they can keep and how they handled time zones with past clients.
- Equipment: confirm they have a recent Mac and physical iPhones for testing.
Three questions that reveal a lot
- Your app was rejected in review the day before a launch. What do you do in the next hour?
- How do you keep your work visible when your manager is asleep for most of your day?
- Which part of Swift or SwiftUI did you learn most recently, and why?
Junior, mid-level or senior
Match the level to the job, not to the budget alone. A junior developer suits a team that already has a senior iOS lead who can review every change. A mid-level developer can own features from start to finish once the app’s structure is in place. If the developer will be your only iOS person, or the app needs a cleanup before it can grow, choose a senior: someone who has planned an app’s structure before and can make decisions you can trust while you are offline.
A paid test task
Ask your final candidate or two for a small paid task close to your real app, such as one screen that loads data from a sample API with loading and error states. Keep it to a few hours and give everyone the same brief. Review the code and the written notes that come with it. How they explain their choices in writing tells you a lot about working with them across time zones.
Your first months together
During week one, the developer should get into your code, your beta builds and your crash reports, and ship one small fix so the whole release path is tested. In the first month, hand over one area of the app and agree how updates are shared each day, for example a short written note at the end of their day. By the third month, your developer should plan releases with you and suggest improvements of their own.
Common mistakes
- Choosing on price alone instead of on shipped work and communication.
- Leaving the shared hours vague and finding out later that they do not work.
- Forgetting Indian public holidays when planning a release date.
- Keeping App Store Connect access with one person only, instead of adding the developer to your own account.
